This qualification reflects the role of an individual working as a senior civil works designer or a para-professional designer, who supports professional engineers. They perform tasks that are broad, specialised, complex and technical and include strategic areas and initiating activities. They are responsible for the design of complex projects to ensure the implementation of the client’s site requirements and are required to demonstrate self-directed application of theoretical and technical knowledge and initiate solutions to technical problems or management requirements.

Students who have successfully completed in Australia in the English language either the Senior Secondary Certificate of Education or 50% of the units of a Certificate IV or higher-level course, in the two years before applying for the student visa.
The RII60520 course, which is an “Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design”, is best suited for individuals already working in the civil construction industry who want to advance their career to a senior design role, such as a senior civil works designer or a para-professional designer supporting professional engineers; essentially, people looking to gain the skills to design complex civil construction projects with a high level of technical expertise and responsibility.

The tuition fee for this course may be paid in four (4) instalments in set due dates. The first instalment includes part of the tuition fee ($1,500), material fee, and enrolment fee and it must be paid prior to enrolment. The Materials Fee will be payable every term before the start of the term.

It is Australian College of Applied Business’ policy to provide additional learning assistance to students who are struggling
without involving any additional costs.
International students are required to attend 20 contact hours (i.e. two and a half days) of training and assessment per week as per their visa condition.
The volume of learning includes homework which is unsupervised and includes research for assessments and general reading of learner guide. Homework required for the course is expected to be on average 5 hours a week.
Students must do all the required assessments to successfully complete this course.
All materials needed for students’ assessment in this course will be provided by the College. Students need not incur any extra cost to buy the materials for this course, except the material cost paid at the start of each term.
Students must attend their scheduled Face-To-Face classes.
If a student has already achieved some skills and knowledge required by this qualification they may apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). The RPL process requires a student to:
provide all relevant documents of their prior learning
discuss their relevant experience to their assessors
provide an opportunity to their assessor to speak with their workplace supervisors, and undertake some practical tasks, if required
Learners who obtain a competent result for all 12 units will receive a Qualification in RII60520 Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design or Learners who do not obtain a competent result in all 12 units will receive a Statement of Attainment for the units they obtain competency in. Assessment may include a combination of various styles of assessments to be completed in-class or online via Moodle.
After studying RII60520 Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design, Students who complete this course may wish to continue their education into a range of Bachelor qualifications, such as Bachelor of Civil Construction.
This qualification provides a pathway to work in Construction sector, Traffic Administration, Logistics, Government Service, Local Government Administration.
