Course description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply knowledge, practical
skills and experience in Leadership and management across a range of
enterprise and industry contexts.
Individuals at this level display initiative and judgment in planning, organizing,
implementing and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others.
They use communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet
organizational or enterprise requirements.
They plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems and
identify, analyses and synthesize Information from a variety of sources.

Entry Requirements

. Be at least 18 years of age and have completed Year 12 or equivalent.

. Have an IELTS score of5.5(test results must be no more than 2 years ). English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following:

–Educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country; or

–Successful completion of ACAB’s Language, Literacy and Numeracy Test

*Note that other English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL can be accepted. Students are required to provide their results so that it can be confirmed they are equivalent to IELTS5.5.

. Although there are no formal pre-requisites for entry to this qualification, students must have sufficient literacy and numeracy skills to complete the course. 

. Students are also required to have good knowledge of computers i.e. used a computer with a Windows environment.

Who should do this course?

This course will be suitable for those who are currently leading a key business operation or, those who will be leading such operation in future.

The qualification will also be suitable for those who should apply specialised leadership and management skills in their current or future roles as leaders and managers.

Those individuals who would like to have advanced knowledge and skills in managing finance, organisational change, business plans and business risks and the over-all operations of an enterprise may undertake this course.

Payment methods

The tuition fee for this course may be paid in six (6) instalments in the set due dates. The Enrolment Fee and the part of the tuition fee (A$.2,300) must be paid prior to enrolment. The Materials Fee will be payable every term before the start of the term.

All payments may be made by Bank Transfer to the nominated account or by cash.

Student Support & Welfare

Where the student is experiencing any difficulties , he /she should be referred to the Student Support Officer who will seek to assist. If the student ’s needs exceed
Australian College of Applied Business’ support capacity, it will
refer the student to an appropriate external agency.
It is Australian College of Applied Business’ policy to provide additional learning assistance to students who are struggling
without involving any additional costs.

Students must dedicate at least twenty 20 hours a week for the scheduled classes. In addition, the course may require an additional ten (10) hours per week to learn the provided materials and undertake required assessments.

Students must do all the required assessments to successfully complete this course.

The assessments will include undertaking organisational case studies, demonstrating practical skills in a real or simulated workplace environment, project work, research, and knowledge tests.

All materials needed for students’ assessment in this course will be provided by the College. Students need not incur any extra cost to buy the materials for this course, except the material cost paid at the start of each term.

If a student has already achieved some skills and knowledge required by this qualification they may apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). The RPL process requires a student to:

  • provide all relevant documents of their prior learning
  • discuss their relevant experience to their assessors
  • provide an opportunity to their assessor to speak with their workplace supervisors, and undertake some practical tasks, if required

Learners who obtain a competent result for all 12 units will receive a quali fication in BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership Management. Learners who do not obtain a competent result in all 12 units will receive a Statement of Attainment for the units they obtain competency in.

After receiving BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management graduate may undertake a higher qualification in Business or Management, for example, BSB60420 Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management.
